I worked at Flowers Foods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The product is competitive in the market

    Cons

The marketing of the product is inconsistent with industry standard. The product comes in late to the warehouse compared to industry standard. You're considered an independent contractor, but treated like a company employee. The compensation is not equivalent to the work description. You work all major holidays except Christmas and Thanksgiving

    Advice to Management

Hire management that has experience in the field and can relate to driver concerns. Also, would be helpful to help drivers grow routes and territories, instead of leaving them to fend for themselves ....then when bonus for the quarter comes around, the company adds additional product to drivers without asking the drivers , so that District Managers can make bonus. A TREMENDOUS amount of extra product! If drivers are independent operators, that is a violation of the contract that Flowers Foods extends to drivers.

I worked at Flowers Foods full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Two weeks of vacation, IF you can get it approved. No one breathing down your neck, until the regional is snooping around and then the direct sales manager is up your rear!

    Cons

When I first started 8 years ago my pay was good. Over the last 3 years it became non-existent due to Flowers constantly catering to silly little accounts. Dollar General was treated as though they were Walmart. No benefits. 24/7 on call. Poor communication from sales management. Complicated pay checks(Too many unexplained charges/changes.) I sold my route last year, make a marginal return, but it doesn't make up for the weeks where they couldn't explain the "chargebacks" and I was stuck OWING them $1,000 for the week!

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the sales managers. And stop catering to the Family Dollar/Dollar Generals, they are a pain in the arse!

    Cons

slave driven rush, rush, rush yet safety is preached if you get hurt you're on your on cause its on paper signed(sometimes) so dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. Pay for what is done by techs SUCKS for the expectation of you. Don't get me wrong I''m a firm believer of fair days work for fair days pay (lol) if you work shift an stuff goes array you are stuck!!!

    Advice to Management

don't have clicks(favorite workers) your shift workers are there to put out small fires not stay over and bail out days!!

I worked at Flowers Foods as a contractor

    Pros

    There are not any pros!

    Cons

Everything! If you are any type of developer or analyst look elsewhere for employment!!This place has no idea how to treat IT professionals and management is horrible! I've seen highly educated and capable professionals quit because of the decision making of a few clueless managers. If you like to be micro managed and seek a position that offers no flexibility then this place is perfect for you.

    Advice to Management

Take Introduction to communication 101. First practice communicating with yourself before graduating to group communication

    Pros

Ability to have freedom with flexibility in the job function, however, regimented in the minute details of some reporting and looking at the overall picture. Inability to voice concerns.

    Cons

Felt bullied by superiors. Can't offer feedback and not open to feedback. Majority of the managers have 25 yrs of experience and unwilling to take objective thinking.
