I applied online. I interviewed at 1Nebula (Cape Town) in Mar 2025
Interview
The interview process starts with a quick screening via Microsoft Teams, followed by an assessment. If successful, there is another round of interviews with the technical team and then finally an interview with the CEO

Question 1
What is FinOps, and how does it help organizations manage cloud costs?
I had a 30-minute screening session followed by two take-home assessments. The screening went well and even ran over time, but it was handled by an HR administrator with limited technical knowledge. Because of this, I couldn’t really showcase my projects, coding skills, or technical abilities.
After the screening, I got another take-home assignment. Two months later, I received a rejection email, even though I never got to speak to anyone technical who could properly evaluate what I bring to the table. Take-home assignments don’t always show the full picture, and I even pointed out parts I didn’t fully understand when submitting.
The process would be a lot better if there were opportunities to engage with technical team members, so candidates could properly demonstrate their skills.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at 1Nebula (Johannesburg) in Jul 2023
Interview
Entire process took over a month and a half to complete, during which I had 5 video call meetings including a phone call interview beforehand. There was no clear communication on how the interview process would go, and how many hoops I'd need to go through in order to get to a final offer, I had to ask this after receiving radio silence for about a week between the second last and last video call interview. They made me go and do background checks as well during the week, by which I thought it was almost an open and shut case before again receiving no communication for over 2 weeks and then getting a very generic Thank you for your application but we have decided to go with another applicant.
