      Account Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Adyen (London, England) in Dec 2025

      Interview

1st round was a typical first interview with a recruiter, felt thorough and professional. 2nd round was a meeting with 2 members of the team, which in all honesty was superfluous. I'm not sure what value it added to the process in terms of assessing a candidate, but it was a nice chat and a chance to learn a little about day to day life in the company. 3rd round was a role playing exercise (presenting to a fake client about how Adyen can help their US expansion). 'The client' was 2 TLs. This was a very informative stage and required a few days preparation to prepare the deck and research the company. The questions asked by the TLs were relevant and this was an enjoyable round. Feedback from rounds 1-3 was timely and my recruiter did an excellent job keeping communication lines open and helping set expectations for each round. All 3 rounds require knowledge of the Adyen Formula (the company culture/values basically) as this was consistently brought up. My final round was unfortunately very disappointing however. The company flew me onsite to see the office and meet the MD. Ahead of the trip, I was told no preparation was needed and truth be told, I wasn't fully clear on what the trip actually entailed other than "the MD will ask you where you see yourself in 5 years". After meeting my would-be TL for 30 mins (just a chat really, I think we both assumed I had the job) I was brought to meet the MD. The MD seemed very scattered and had to be told twice who I was and why I was there. She then opened my CV on her laptop and proceeded to just fire questions at me about my experience (some of which I failed to see the relevance of but answered anyway). I didn't get the chance to ask many questions and I felt I had stepped into a 1st round interview versus a glorified coffee chat like I was led to believe. Nobody was there to show me out so the MD reluctantly accompanied me out the door. My recruiter went silent on me but emailed me briefly to say the earliest I would receive a call would be 2 days later. Instead of a call, I received a last minute, automated email at EOD 2 days later, letting me know I was rejected. I find this very disappointing given the constant assurance that Adyen "doesn't hide behind emails". Overall it was a very sour end to what was a really enjoyable and professional process. The lack of clarity regarding the nature of my office visit and lack of communication at the final hurdle let the process down quite a bit and left me feeling a little confused and misled

      Interview

I was contacted by two different recruiters regarding two positions I had applied for, and unfortunately neither experience was positive. For the first recruiter screening, the recruiter joined the Zoom call a few minutes late and seemed disengaged throughout the conversation. Most of the questions were very basic, there were no meaningful follow-up questions, and it didn't feel like my responses were being actively listened to. The interview ended about 10 minutes earlier than scheduled. The second experience was more frustrating. The recruiter did not show up for our scheduled screening call and emailed me about 20 minutes after the start time to say that her previous meeting had run over. We agreed to reschedule to next day and she confirmed the time with me. But on the day of interview, she sent a calendar invite for a different time without first checking my availability. I understand that schedules can change and unexpected conflicts happen. However, after multiple issues with communication and scheduling, I felt the process was disrespectful of candidates' time. As a result, I chose to decline the invite. Based on my experience, Adyen may want to invest more attention in recruiter communication, candidate engagement, and professionalism during the early stages of the hiring process.

Standard case study - gave me a scenario around a situation and I responded using the Adyen Formula. The process was designed to test the way you think and if you are able to embrace the Adyen formula. Knowledge and culture fit check.

Clear and good process, knew what to expect. Process stated like on the website. Friendly contact with recruiter, but could've been a bit more responsive. Was nice getting to know the colleagues/team so fast.
