Most of the process was good apart from the interview with the CEO.
- Screening call with engineering manager was great
- Technical take-home was too long, took ~6 hours
- Follow-up technical interview was good
- Cultural fit interview with 3 team members for 1.5hrs was good, quite difficult to context switch between them though
- Interview with CEO - I was expecting a general chat as everyone else had given the OK. But this wasn't the case, he drilled me with behavioural questions which was odd. I felt he was unfriendly, stand-offish, and he wanted to get it over with quickly as he cut the interview short.
I thought I did fine in the interview but feedback came through as rejected due to being impersonal and not suitable for a startup - I disagree with this feedback so can only assume he had someone else he wanted to hire instead. Not a great experience with wasting people time like that.
