I interviewed at Banque Nationale du Canada/National Bank of Canada
Typical investment banking interview. Technical questions that you can read up on in the guides. Mid-level interviewers were a bit cold, but seniors were friendly and talkative. Overall not a bad experience for an IB interview.
- Walk through a DCF; multiples; accretion / dilution.

Great people, interview was really technical heavy to make sure you understand what IB is. Process was smooth would definitely recommend people to work here. Make sure to network with people to get the best chance

Very smooth, only one round. The interviewer asked me:” how is your father doing now”, we then went to grab some lunch and a coffee, love the process so much

It was pretty standard, one hirevue, the phone call, then zoom, then a final in person where they came to the school. They asked a mix of technical and behavioral questions and were nice.
- Rum me through a DCF

I first applied to National Bank Financial through my campus recruitment portal and investment club, then after two weeks or so, I got a call from the head HR person for an in-person group interview at the main office in Toronto.
- 1. Walk me through your resume 2. Walk me through a DCF 3. What is your biggest failure

Overall very smooth interview process with a large focus on markets related trends. Also, the firm had a large focus on behavioral questions. In order to prepare for the interview I'd recommend brushing up on standard investment banking technicals and HOW they apply to the markets. Also, if you are interviewing in Toronto, I'd recommend having a stock pitch prepared on a TSX related company.
- I was asked what is the current oil price (referring to WTI, etc.)
