      Senior Operations Analyst Interview

      14 Jul 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Plano, TX
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Capital One (Plano, TX) in Jul 2011

      Interview

I Applied Online and received a phone call from a recruiting cordinator inviting me for an online assessment which I passed the same day. The following day I received a call from a recruiter inviting me for an onsite interview in Plano, TX. I was flown in really lookd after as I was put up in a nice and contemporary hotel across from the campus. The day of the interview, I discovered that there were about 10 other individuals interviewing as well. The onsite interview consisted of a behavioral interview and 2 case studies. Behavioral interview consusted of 3 questions and then there was enought time foor me to have informal discussion. The Case interviews were a little more intense than I expected. Both were related to Credit Card industry. The first was about finding profit based on variable APRs ( PROFIT = REVENUE-COST) . Make sure to think out loud and let the interviewer see your approach. Second Case Interview was about calculating the break even based on probability of good and bad credit applications. My advice is to have few examples ready for beahviorial interview and brush up on basic algerbaic and probability formulas. Best of Luck!

      Senior Operations Analyst Interview

      15 Aug 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      McLean, VA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA)

      Interview

It was a case interview with practical questions along with a typical STAR interview. Some of the interviewers were very nice, some were short and on the rude side. We had to calculate for example if a transaction over the credit limit would be allowable or not or decide whether to roll out a certain campaign. If you are not familiar with the industry it can be tough.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Would you allow a transaction over the credit limit. They provided numbers for you to be able to calculate it.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Richmond, VA) in Apr 2015

      Interview

First a phone call with the recruiter followed by a phone case interview which was pretty simple. Power day at their campus included 4 interviews- 2 cases plus 2 behavioral. Behavioral interviews are the most straightforward interviews on earth. Three straight questions are asked with an expected STAR format answer. Cases are adaptive in that the difficulty of cases will increase as you answer questions correctly.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about a time when you had to anticipate a problem and resolve it before it became an issue. Tell me about a time when you had a difficult team to deal with.
