Anonymous Interview Candidate in San Francisco, CA
I applied online. I interviewed at City and County of San Francisco (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2023
Very regimented. Panel interview with now personal feedback and standardized questions. Very stress inducing. You will need to practice on this format. I was interviewed by people who were not qualified to do the job at hand. I felt like they already had an internal choice. They were interviewing me to follow a procedure. In my second interview, one of the interviewers was clearly working on something else. It was so clear he wasn't listening to me that it was unnerving. I think internal candidates always are favored regardless of qualifications. My interviewers (working in the department and doing the job I was applying for) were not up to speed on the best way to do the jobs at hand.

Long wait. At least contact you after three months that you apply for the job. But after they get you, you will have more ideas for the process. The HR people are slow and might be making some mistakes.

Was a very quick process, couldn't be more than 10 min. I felt it was very generic and wasn't sure how I did. Overall one of the fastest interviews I've had.

I have an Unique Interview experience with this company. position required a mere associate degree along with 1 year of system experience in ERP modules. whereas, I do poses hands on experience of 2 years working for a major US company where I have proven record of Implementing, and customizing financial modules across the board as well as testing them. additionally, I do have solid Data analysis and Project based experience as well. Total, I do have more than 6 years of Full time job experience. I have completed associate and bachelor degree in Compute science, additionally, almost finished with my MS in Information technology. Hiring manager reached out to me, and conducted a 30-40 minutes teams interview and discussed the role, and what I have done and what my goals are etc. she liked it, and invited me for an Interview where 5 committee members will be present and will conduct the interview. 3 days before the final interview, they have cancelled my interview schedule and one of the HR from City of san Francisco, sent me an email which in plain text said sorry we couldn't conduct your final interview because YOU DO NOT MATCH THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION for this position. I was fairly shocked and this is so unique experience from my end as I have never seen this kind of unprofessionalism before. I guess, I know now why young talents don't tend to go for public job as I felt they still lack professionalism and understand the job Interview phases well. Otherwise, after reviewing a resume, conducting a 40 minutes video interview where you discussed at length regarding everything, how come just before the final interview you sent an email like that indicating you don't even match minimum qualification which is lie. I am always get so excited when I do interview as its an great opportunity to know the company and people and at the same time showcase your skill, likewise learn things but when you get rejected in this manner, you certainly lose will to serve the public office. Most importantly, when you are serving public office, your communication, commitment should have been much better as you are responsible to answer to the public. I hope whoever will apply in the future, should consider these aspects and hiring culture of this office.

Way too long and unclear. In one interview I met with three people and wasn’t told it would only be 30min. In that same interview via zoom a hiring manager just changed from video to picture. Another hiring manager asked me basic questions that made it clear he never even looked at my resume—and this was HR. They also changed it to temp out of nowhere. Horrible process. Avoid it and go elsewhere.
- Was that job your last employer?

Interview itself was the quickest interview ever. They're very quick with the process and want you in then out. Didn't really help that there were a bunch of people waiting in a line outside either.
- Series of multiple questions they have on a list in front of you taped to the desk.
