Interview
Easy, quick and friendly up until it was determined I wouldn't be a good fit. Some quick context: I have exchanged occasional emails with the COO since 2016. So I submitted my application and received a relatively quick response from HR. Started with a phone chat with the COO, which was pleasant. Then scheduled an in-person interview, which was relaxed, nice and straightforward. Everyone at the company was a pleasure to speak with. Afterwards I didn't hear back for a week or two. I followed up with the HR contact but received no response. So I emailed the COO and he gave me a call about the status of my candidacy, which I really appreciated. What I thought I knew about the company led me to believe that I would at least get some kind of response instead of me reaching out. Definitely left a bad impression on me.

I had a connection to an employee, and I reached out for more information about job opportunities. I had lunch with two members of the management team to see if there was a good fit available. I applied and had a laid back interview where they asked about my experience and an open position that they thought was a good fit for me.

Came in thinking I was a great candidate. Left thinking that they wanted one of their "own." They lack diversity in all areas of the organization. They say they want people who meet their culture but really they do not embrace other cultures.
