The CEO and a handful of other executives introduced themselves by making a point of stating their pronouns. I pretty much knew this wasn’t a fit for me. I’m all for acceptance and inclusivity, but there is a fine line between that and virtue signaling that feeds the ego at the expense of a pragmatic focus on driving towards the objectives for which the business exists. Then I recalled an earlier phone interview wherein the HR Director informed me that a department within the org had voted to unionize itself. I connected the dots rather quickly at that point.
The organization, correctly so, did not invite for the next round of interviews. I give them credit for making such a lucid decision.
