Two rounds of interviews, the first being a case study from a technology perspective, the second is a more behavioral and interactive interview/conversation.

Once you pass the first round of interviews, you will be invited to a social at a restaurant/bar to hang out with the hiring team. Although it is not an official interview, be sure that they are observing your emotional intelligence and social skills.

    Internal Human Resources Role Interview

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Deloitte (Stamford, CT (US)).

    Interview

Internal recruiter contacted me by email, months after I applied. In her email, she asked me to call her (unusual since they usually call you). I missed that part when I replied. I emailed her a few minutes after the interview was supposed to begin, asking if we were still having the call. She wrote back that I was supposed to call her and she had "waited on hold for 6 minutes." This was not true because it was a direct line, not a conference number, and I emailed her within minutes of not hearing from her. When she replied, she treated me like an idiot, pointing out that her email said I was supposed to call her (obviously my fault for not reading that part). Then she offered to reschedule (not sure why, since she should have had another 20 minutes to speak to me). On the day of our rescheduled call, I waited for her to call me (as agreed), but the call never came, so I emailed her and she said it was supposed to be an hour later (we were in different time zones). By the time we spoke, she had written me off. It was a pointless call. She listened to me talk about my experience, which was a perfect match for the role (I had held in the same role, in the same industry before). She told me she would pass along my information to the hiring manager. Three days later, she emailed me to say they had more qualified candidates. I am not sure if she even gave my resume to the hiring manager. If she did, I'm sure she told them about the scheduling mishaps. Throughout the process, she was haughty and curt. During the interview, she was dismissive of my relevant experience. The call only lasted 11 minutes.

    Easy Interview

    Interview

It was back to back interview. There were two interviewers and they were super friendly and relaxed. It was a conversation interview and combine with several behaviors questions. Easy to communicate and enjoy the interview process, but unfortunately, I didn't get the offer

    Tax Consultant Interview

Anonymous Employee in New York, NY (US)

    Positive Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 7+ months. I interviewed at Deloitte (New York, NY (US)).

    Interview

Over the phone interview and 2 in-office interviews on the same day at the office I would later work at, all after applying online and having HR reach out months later about a different position. It is my understanding that it was pure luck that I was spotted through an online medium, while I was heavily qualified, be sure to seek this out as much as you can, they will not reach out to you like they did me, simply because there was such a hiring boom within the firm from tax reform.

    Interview Questions

    • Many of the questions were very personalized about my experience, know your resume and how you personally have actively helped or improved the organizations you are a part of. Know how that applies to the job. Know the structure of the organization. Know what branch of tax in Deloitte you are interested in. Know the general tax process.   Answer Question
