Has anyone ever reported "mentoring" hours towards the annual ISACA limit of 10 CPE hours for mentoring? I just found out about this way to earn CPE. If I have direct reports where I am responsible for mentoring/performance management I should be able to submit for 10 CPE hours for a year right?
Anyone have experience at the Connor Group? They have a VP of Accounting position available. Looks intriguing to apply and see if I can get out of PA (13 years of tax, where did life go?). The comp looks good. I can’t tell what the work-life balance is like based on the online reviews so I’m hoping someone has insight. Thanks! Connor Group
What's the latest you've stayed during Close? For me (private/industry), I must have our bank recs in before we can move on to any further Close tasks and I have 12 bank accounts to close. They also MUST be done by close day 2 so I've been here since 8 and will probably continue to work until 11 tonight before calling it quits only because I thankfully have tomorrow as a weekend buffer between day 1 and 2 this month and also only because I have an exam to study for.
So many of my staff have left and moved on due to pay. My company decided not to fill these positions because business is on the slower end. But I would say it's only down like 15%. Long story short we went from a team of 6 to a team of 3. I have taken on a lot more!!!! I have a meeting with the CFO next week about my careers goals but I really want more money! How do I express this? My review is coming up. And I want to speak on it before the decision is made! I also just got my MBA in June.
Anybody else think the future of the accounting industry is in very bad shape? -declining accounting graduates every year -less people pursuing CPAs -career is less attractive (extra year for college, cpa exam, long hours, nonstop work) -better comp in other areas like finance, tech, sales, etc. PPMDs think dangling the partner carrot will keep people invested. Next gen will not slave away for it. Most SMs + PPMDs are miserable w no WL balance. IMO a massive industry adj. needs to happen
