I applied after noticing the hiring manager viewing my profile several times. Got a response from a recruiter pretty fast and the first call went well, I made it to the 2nd interview with the hiring manager and it went mostly well except for when I asked about support in the first 90 days and the response I got was gruff and dismissive. He stated he expected a principal to own the training and implied I would have to just figure it out. While I expect such a senior role to perform at a high level quick, the response to this question raised my eyebrows since I would’ve been an external hire versus internal. Despite this, I pushed forward and landed the 3rd call. This is where things took an even weirder turn. I got a series of emails asking to provide scheduling times which I did. In the midst of those emails was a NDA that I was not anticipating getting so early into the process. As I read the fine print, I see strange verbiage that Docusign won’t be held liable for any damages resulting from the interview including negligence and other verbiage that did not sit well with me. They told me signing it was a requirement to move forward but I stood my ground and asked if they could either remove the questionable clause or talk to me without it. A little back and forth before I expressed I would not sign it and that’s when the recruiter called and insisted it was just a standard NDA to which I disagreed and told her I had never signed such an NDA worded as such albeit for a job interview. She said she would check with her legal team. She hung up and then called right back and said, “So then you are canceling your interview because you don’t want to sign it?” I replied that I wasn’t cancelling it but it sounded like she wanted to cancel because of the NDA. I reiterated my interest in the role and my willingness to move forward with either a different NDA or none at all. She said she would check with her legal team. Not even 5 minutes later, she sends me an interview cancellation note. At this point, I considered it a done deal. The following week, the same recruiter sends me a petty email to inform me they found another candidate who accepted an offer and they would not move forward with me. I responded politely and questioned why such an email had been sent given the way things transpired. In addition to this, I received a bunch of unwanted spam from docusign. I have receipts and I am not making any of this up. Based on this horrendous interview experience, I think I may have dodged a bullet.
