I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash in May 2017
Interview
Was contacted by a co-founder. Got several phone conversations with him and two other EMs. The phone calls were actually useful to determine whether I want to fly in for the on-site or not.
I went through dozens of interviews during my recent job search. DoorDash interview was the most efficient. Recruiter was competent and quick to respond. On-site was scheduled in advance and I got a chance to look up interviewers on LinkedIn before the interview. The did substitute one of the interviewers last-minute though.
The interview actually made sense to me. Their technical and systems design questions were reasonable: not too complicated, but deep enough. The management experience interview was pretty standard. Culture fit interview was a bit strange to me.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Unlike many other companies, they had me to talk in details about things I built at my previous job. This is something I personally like to ask candidates a lot as it yields tons of useful information. I was happy to see them doing the same.
I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash in Jan 2026
Interview
First it was recruiter screen over phone followed by round 1 which had 2 interviews. First it was 60 min system design followed by 45 min team hiring/management interview. It seemed straightforward process.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash (Pune) in Jul 2025

Application
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2024
Interview
Had two interviews back-to-back. One was a system design interview and another was about leadership/hiring. In the system designs interview, the software engineer interviewing me was very rude and I could tell that I was not going to pass within the first 10 minutes. I started designing a system but he kept interrupting me and asking me questions about another component I haven't even gotten to yet. I like to break a problem down into smaller parts, design each component and tie it all together. Once I get an overall design, I may modify it depending on some requirements I may have not considered. However, it seemed that the engineer expected me to have the same design he had in his mind in the first 10 minutes and he did not let me finish designing even one component let alone finish a thought. Overall, had a very bad experience and if all engineers are like this, then not interested in working for this company.

Question 1
Signed an NDA, but question was a typical system design question.
