I applied online. I interviewed at Expedia Group in Jun 2017
Interview
I applied online and in a few days a recruiter contacted me to set up a phone interview and a video interview. Both phone and video interview took about 20-30min. After those two interviews I had in-person interview.

Question 1
What do you think about the current Expedia advertisement and how would you improve it?
Positive process, everyone was lovely and the offices were very inviting and exciting. The team were very engaged and positive and it seemed like a very warm environment. I didn't end up accepting the role however.

Question 1
What do you see the design vision of Expedia looking like in 5-10 years?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Expedia Group (London, England)
Interview
Great disappointment
Recruiting team was great and very supportive, however their good work was eclipsed by one of the worst experience I’ve had in a hiring process:
I’ve interviewed with the hiring manager (based in the US - which is weird because the whole team apart from him are based in London). He looked like he was following a script, which was weird because the first thing he said was “let’s treat this as a relaxed conversation instead of an interview” = -1 star
Answering to my question about the growth potential, he answered: “this role is going to stay the same for the next 2 years probably more than that...”. So basically he told me to my face that there’s no growth in Expedia.
I was in shock. I didn’t know whether he felt threatened by me taking over his position or he was just SO HONEST. But everyone that I later discussed this with reacted the same way as I did. = -5 stars
I also wonder if the company is all managed by old heads not wanting it to grow or is it just him?
I obviously didn’t pass to the next stage even though I’m well overqualified for the role and we both knew it, as he asked me why would I step down to a junior position (which I wasn't aware of, as the recruiters didn’t present it to me that way but instead told me that whilst I wouldn’t have anyone reporting to me, there were lots of growth opportunities.) however my genuine answer was that I’d like to join a renowned big brand like Expedia (as in my mind there were going to be a lot of chances for me to grow my career while contributing my talent to the company’s success.
I have to say that even if I had passed to the next stage I’d have asked to work with a different team, because I’d definitely wouldn’t leave my current role to report to someone like “that guy”.
Because the level of detail, I know they would know who I’m, but I think this experience was so disappointing that should be public, also because if I had a company I would definitely not have an employee like that in my company.
