Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Intel Corporation in April 2011.

Interview

First, there was a brief (30 minute) phone screening interview with a recruiter. I was then flown on site for a full day interview, involving a presentation and several 1:1s with different managers. There was also a lunch with a couple of current employees of Intel, so there was some opportunity for discussion of what the work environment was like with potential future colleagues.

Interview Questions

  • They mostly asked about what I worked on in graduate school. They were trying to probe my depth of knowledge and see if I could explain technical concepts clearly.   Answer Question

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Intel Corporation (Hillsboro, OR (US)) in August 2015.

    Interview

A few engineers from Intel came to my university to recruit graduating doctoral students. At the end they collected resumes and emailed some students the next day for phone interviews. The phone interview was around a half hour on a Friday, and the interviewer said he would speak with groups at Intel and see if anyone was interested. The following Monday I received an email inviting me to fly out for an interview a week and a half later.
The interview day started with a presentation of my thesis work and a technical interview with around 4 engineers. They took me to lunch and then a short tour of the fab, then the afternoon consisted of two interviews with a manager (one level up) and then an area manager (two levels up.)

    Interview

Great process. Great experience. Very professional and comfortable environment. I did not feel intimidated at all.

I began with a presentation of my PhD thesis. This lasted an hour. After this I had hour long interviews with 7 people. Each of them focused on my phd experiences and were scientific in nature. It was good to have brushed up my engineering experiences to be able to perform well in these.

I was also asked questions about on the feet problem solving with no prior preparation can help with. So, be prepared for 1-2 questions you have to think and answer on the spot.

The interview went very well. Interviewers are very nice. I have enjoyed the interview very much. However, after a week, they told me that they are unable to get export license necessity for me so no offer. It's bad luck with export license. This export license required for numbers of controlled country like China, Russia, Vietnam, Myanmar, N Korea,...
