      Workplace Operations Specialist Interview

      9 May 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Lyft (New York, NY) in May 2025

      Interview

I was scheduled for a 15 min screening call with recruiter Iman. It started off with a pleasant intro and quickly dived into a disinterested verbatim speed reading of the job description (which I had open on screen for touch points). I'm hard of hearing and don't disclose, unless absolutely necessary, for impartiality. A few questions in I had difficulty understanding due to her echo-y background and quick speaking. I asked her to repeat herself, explained why and she was kind enough to do so. The second time I asked her to repeat a question she laughed and said she didn't know how to speak any clearer or what else to do. I was taken aback by the rude comment and annoyed tone, especially when it's an accessibility need, but managed to continue. At the question portion, I asked if she was in office (to get a current workplace overview) and was cut off with a rushed "I'm remote and you'll have an opportunity to see the office for yourself". The workplace experience begins with that very first phone call. I cannot believe that Lyft would be okay with the way this intro call was conducted. If you're rushed for time, perhaps a 20 min call would be better. And if you feel inconvenienced by a candidate's accessibility need, this may not be the role for you. I received a rejection email the following day and couldn't be happier. It was a terrible first impression of Lyft's culture.
