I had a great interview experience — the questions were thoughtful and allowed me to show my skills in detail. The interviewer was professional and friendly, which made the process smooth and engaging. I didn’t get an offer, but I really appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the company and its culture.

Interview
The interview was set for 30 minutes, but the recruiter showed up about five minutes late. The whole conversation was in Ukrainian, except for one question to check my English level. A few days later, I got a rejection email saying they were moving forward with candidates who had a “slightly higher level of spoken English at the start,” and that they didn’t have the resources to support training.
That part really surprised me. I’ve been working closely with US and UK founders for the past few years, handling global mid- and enterprise-level deals. It felt a bit unfair to judge my English based on a single question.
What was even more disappointing is that I came into the interview genuinely excited. I use and really like MacPaw’s products, and I’d done my homework—mentioned their IPO plans and even brought up their IPO Program Lead, which the recruiter seemed unfamiliar with.
Overall, it felt like the decision was made on something pretty surface-level, and my experience and interest in the company didn’t really get a fair shot.
