      No offer
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Meta (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

The process started with a screening call from Facebook Human Resources to check my experience, ask preliminary questions and provide some additional information about the role for which I was interviewing. That was followed by a call with the hiring manager to further vet my experience and interest in the role. That was followed by a day of interviews and a presentation on projects I had done in the past. There was then a couple of weeks of waiting while they interviewed other candidates before making their decision.

      Market Research Manager Interview

      4 Dec 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Meta in Nov 2017

      Interview

A recruiter contacted me about a market research manager position with Instagram. The recruiter was awesome - professional, quick to respond, intelligent - I thought that the interview process would continue to be pleasant, but it was the worst interview experience I've ever had. After the phone screening with the recruiter, I was set up on a video call with the hiring manager. It was a disaster. I'll preface this with the fact that I've been recruited many times and have doubled my salary in the last two years - I'm pretty good at interviewing and getting work. Anyway, the hiring manager got on the conference line and it was obvious from the start that she was disinterested and had too many other things going on. Then, she asked me three questions about how I'd approach developing a methodology for a research project. The questions were so vague - it was the equivalent of asking me how to make spaghetti - and then I'd tell her - and she'd tell me she wanted goat cheese raviolis with pesto - so my answer was wrong. All in all, about 3 hours of my time (total) was wasted. I bill out at over $250.00 - I think Instagram owes me $ back for my time. I'll never interview with Instagram or a company owned by Facebook again.
