      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Miltenyi Biotec (Los Angeles, CA) in Feb 2022

      Interview

Potential employees beware and don't waste your time like me just because it's a leading provider in the industry. Behind the veneer of esteemed niche products, this company is draped in red flags for employees. For one, the recruiting process I went through was full of subtle deception and abuse, i.e., bait and switch. I just consider myself fortunate that I discovered this shady practice before, God forbid, relocating for the role as planned. Why is this company so desperate for staff that it would reduce itself to these unethical methods? Well, judging from my experience it's clear: Who would want to work there if they knew the truth? Look at the details and decide. After an extensive interview process, they quickly extended me a written offer with HR saying that I was a greata fit and the whole team really wanted me so they were offering me top dollar for the role, but only had a brief window to accept. One problem with this rush job: the offer letter they gave me was for a different role (basically tech support) than the one I had applied and interviewed for (sales), and for which, I was led to believe, I was being hired. (with all kinds of enticements of potential big commissions repeated in negotiations). I was also assured that I would have plenty of tech support to back me up in my sales role.. Little did I know until I read the offer letter carefully, that instead, I was, in fact, the intended tech support! Two very different roles in the industry. I had already provisionally accepted the offer when I noticed the title switched in the offer letter. An innocent mistake perhaps? Except that two days after politely asking HR and the hiring manager for clarification, they abruptly withdrew the written offer, a practice almost unheard of by any reputable company, Since no reason was given, I can only conclude that I was no longer deemed a "great fit " when I would not be a willing victim of their bait and switch practices, (compounded by yet a another bait and switch when they suddenly withdrew their written offer).. Bottom line, sadly, intelligence and integrity are apparently a big liability at this company. Wasted a lot of time but in the end dodged a bullet at least!
