      Dateline NBC Intern Interview

      3 Apr 2013
      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at NBCUniversal (New York, NY) in Oct 2009

      Interview

In order to be qualified for an interview you needed to send a resume, cover letter, and write up a commentary on an episode of Dateline that you enjoyed. Though in-person interviews were available, I did one over the phone. Following the interview, I was offered the position a couple of weeks later. If you can do an in-person interview though, do so. I was told by my supervisor at the end of my internship that having mine done over the phone hurt my application and was saved by the fact that I knew someone who worked in the office that vouched for me.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Nothing truly difficult or unexpected. Just basic interview questions along with what you like about Dateline and why you want to work for the show and NBC in general.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at NBCUniversal (Los Angeles, CA) in Sept 2020

      Interview

I applied last winter where the interview process was much different than it had been in the past. There was an online application that you fill out on their NBCUniversal website, followed up by a video question-answer interview, and followed-up by a Zoom interview.

      10 Apr 2012
      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at NBCUniversal (New York, NY) in Aug 2011

      Interview

The interview was an internal interview - meaning my resume was referred to the hiring manager internally as i was an NBC intern once before. I realized NBC Universal highlights their internal employees so if you're coming from outside of the company, try and meet someone working within the walls. The interview itself was very behavioral. I was asked why I wanted to work at this show, what experiences I had, what I am interested in doing in the future. Not a bad interview at all. I was given the offer right away - I received an email an hour after I left the interview, but from other co-interns I worked with, it seems to vary from one day to a month.
