I applied online. I interviewed at PLUS QA (Portland, OR) in Mar 2026
Interview
First, I was invited to complete a phone screening, after that I was invited to complete a virtual interview, then I was invited to complete a hybrid 48-hour trial period. The first day of the trial period was completed on my personal laptop at my house, and the premise was to test a website that was riddled with bugs and I couldn’t even get through half of the test cases because there were so many bugs to create tickets for; I didn’t even take my lunch because I was concerned about the amount of time I had to complete what I needed to, especially as I was on a trial period. There was also no sort of training or anything, just a very brief meeting with the lead that would be reviewing my work and they went over the schedule for the day and one example bug ticket (that wasn’t even formatted correctly according to their standards— I used this as an example to base my tickets on and they corrected me for incorrect formatting even though I was basing mine on their example ticket). It was definitely a first for me being thrown into a role for a trial period, and then the next day I went in person to the Portland office and tested a mobile app, the second day was better as the app didn’t have quite as many bugs so I was able to make it through the test cases a lot quicker. After the end of the second day, I had to fill out a survey about my experience with the trial period. My trial period ended on a Thursday so I didn’t hear back until Monday about the results of the trial period, just overall a very odd and degrading experience, and the overall vibe was that you are expected to be a machine basically and there is zero time to talk to anyone. For the pay, lack of benefits, and expectations, I wouldn’t recommend trying for this position.
Started with a phone interview then interviewed with a panel. HR was very responsive. Everyone on the panel seemed genuinely interested in me and were all very professional. Great experience other companies could learn from.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at PLUS QA (Portland, OR) in Oct 2018
Interview
Started out with a 15+ phone interview. Then an in person interview with several people. During the in person interview we talked about my work history and experience. Somewhat casual, not intense at all. They gave me 10 minutes to go over a website and write down all the issues i found within that time frame. Then I started a 2 day trial period.
