      Content Specialist Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Phenom

      Interview

      1. Initial phone screen with a recruiter, which went well. 2. Zoom interview with hiring manager, which went great. 3. Technical assessment. This is where the red flags raised. On a Friday, they said I had 48 hours to complete this THREE PART assessment. But in the same email, they said they'd give me until Monday at the latest. If we're talking business days, then I should have until Tuesday. If we're talking normal days, I should have until Sunday. When I asked for confirmation on the deadline, I didn't get a response in time. (Almost like it was a weekend! Imagine!) Point being: don't expect a technical assessment to be done in 48 hours, and do not assign it to be done over a weekend. That immediately showed me how little they cared about my personal time vs. work time; and how un-detail oriented they are regarding deadlines; and how their unresponsiveness meant I was expected to work over the weekend while they don't have to. This ALL says a lot about company culture. I was freaking out because I had another assessment for another interview/company that I had to complete that weekend, was sick on Saturday, and due to my religion, I'm not allowed to work on Sundays. Thankfully, the other company was actually flexible and responsive regarding deadlines. I far preferred them. Further, the assessment itself was three parts. A 600-800 word blog, an email, and a social post. Girl, you be tripping if you expect people to do all this for you for free in 48 hours over a weekend. Unfortunately, I did end up having to work until very late on Sunday (a religious non-working day for MANY). All of this was a huge red flag against this company. 4. Then, I had three more interviews with team members. One was cancelled the day of, no apology. RED. FLAG. You wasted my whole weekend, and don't even apologize for wasting my time planning around and prepping for this interview. In another interview, the interviewer said it's more of a "work-life integration" then a work-life balance". I appreciate her candor, but RED FLAG. 5. After completing, at this point, 5 interviews and three assignments, I wait for the decision or next step. AFTER ALL OF THAT TIME, THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE DECENCY TO TELL ME THEY WEREN'T MOVING FORWARD. Just ghosted me until I followed up 2 weeks later (it was near Thanksgiving so I allotted some extra time before bugging them). They did respond to let me know that they went with someone else. It was all B/S. Really dodged a bullet.
