      Finance Graduate Programme Interview

      22 Aug 2023
      Anonymous employee
      Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at RWE (Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia) in Jul 2023

      Interview

The entire process lasted for a span of 4 months and encompassed three rounds of evaluation. The initial round involved a logic and math test. The second round comprised an on-demand interview, where candidates were allotted 2 to 5 minutes to respond to a series of questions (15 in total). Typically, you had around 60 seconds to prepare for each question, with the opportunity to record your response only once. The final phase was an assessment day, where candidates congregated to participate in various activities. These included individual business case assessments, finance case evaluations, group activities such as playing board games, and individual interviews with HR personnel. The assessment day spanned an entire day, and the results, along with feedback, were communicated the following day. Overall, the process was well-structured, and the interview experience was highly positive. The on-demand video interview usually featured questions related to cash flow, finance, as well as motivational queries. The assessment day, though intense, was enjoyable. With approximately 15 to 20 candidates participating, RWE ensured a friendly and conversational atmosphere during interviews and case discussions. Adequate preparation is essential for success. For the case assessments, it's advised to brainstorm carefully before presenting solutions, make assumptions when necessary, and utilize all available information from the case. Don't hesitate to seek clarification from the interviewer if any requirements or data are unclear. During group activities, it's crucial to understand the objective of the case or game, collaborate harmoniously within the team, and prioritize collective interests over personal ones. Individual interviews offer a chance to showcase your authenticity. Be open and genuine, as the interviewers are keen to understand your character and gauge your alignment with the company. Expect situational and behavioral questions. In summary, the interviews are characterized by a down-to-earth and pleasant atmosphere. Authenticity is key; there's no need to overly promote yourself

      Interview

Completed on demand interview consisting of a few questions with limited characters to be used for response so wording was essential. Then video interview commenced with about 8-10 questions regarding background, behavioral and one technical question about NPV. You had 60 seconds to prepare for the question and 2 minutes to respond. For the technical question you get 5 minutes and it tends to be a multi level question.
