TLDR: They're looking for freelancers, not employees. 0 annual (paid) leave, 0 benefits, offered pay almost 30% less than advertised starting pay, miniscule fixed annual bonus, Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) policy with no subsidy whatsoever.
I went through 3 stages of interview: assessment, technical interview, and a final interview.
The take-home assessment wasn't complicated but it's not something you can complete in a couple of hours. I completed the assessment over the weekend and submitted the source code via email.
If you've passed the assessment, they'll invite your for a second interview where they gauge your technical knowledge. They went through the tools that I used and asked about the technologies/frameworks that I know. Then, they roughly go through my code and point out the parts where I could've done better and where I did good.
The final interview involves the head of the tech department and hiring manager. In my case, the hiring manager wasn't present. This final interview was a little bit more casual than the last one as the aim is to get to know the other person better (e.g. attitude, background, etc.).
I stayed through the entire process because the company's recruiter specified a starting point for the salary (one that I was comfortable with) and also mentioned an attractive annual bonus.
When the offer came, the proposed salary was almost 30% less than the starting salary that was promised earlier in the hiring process. And turns out the annual bonus had an extra zero that wasn't meant to be there.
Remuneration aside, you are entitled to 0 annual (paid) leave and 0 benefits (e.g. medical insurance). What's more to say?
I was almost onboard until the very last step where they officially gave the offer. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.
