      ESports Coordinator Interview

      5 Dec 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Santa Monica, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Riot Games (Santa Monica, CA) in Nov 2014

      Interview

Unimpressive. I had a telephone interview with a very young, somewhat mousy but pleasant interviewer that was reading questions off a computer and typing my responses for whomever to read at later date. Never felt like I was talking to anyone that had deciding power but felt I was supposed to try and impress them nonetheless. It was pretty awkward.

      Interview

I got an email asking for an initial phone screen after around 10 days I submitted my application. I had a phone screen with a supervisor (I guess) from a department that I applied for.

Phone interview and In person interview at career fair. The phone interview had very standard questions and was quite fun actually. Things got more technical during the in person interview. Be prepared to incorporate your personal experiences and draw up creative solutions.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Riot Games

      Interview

TL;dr: met some great people, but long interview process, and communication about the process is often lacking. Over a 6month period I had 11 "steps" (interviews and mini tests). I applied for one position and went through 3 phone interviews, a written test of my abilities, and another phone interview prior to being accepted for an on-site interview. Every interview was awesome: I got nothing but positive feedback back from my interviewers and I really connected with each one. Sometimes I had to bother my recruiter for an update after a week of not hearing back but he eventually always got back to me (this was after switching recruiters because the first one quit as I was starting my process- so there was a bit of a wait time to hear back that she'd left). Two weeks after being told they were arranging an on-site, I followed up to find out they'd filled the position internally. But the good news was they wanted to try me for another position in a separate department (not one I had much experience or interest in - not esports). I said ok, I'll try it. Lather rinse repeat. I had to start the process from step one. Five more phone interviews, yes, even including the redundant first one with the department recruiter to check for a culture fit, and I was becoming more and more sure of the fact that this was neither the proper department for me nor did I have the experience necessary. I was told in the end that while everyone meshed well with me, I didn't have the background necessary for the position (I wasn't surprised). Overall it was a LOOOOOOONG process, I really enjoyed each interview I had, I disliked being sent toward a position I knew I wouldn't excel at, and I had to bother my recruiter quite a bit for updates. Strong Positives + strong negatives = neutral experience
