Submit resume and cover letter to professors after receiving an initial email soliciting that you qualified for the role. It was impossible to apply for this position without the email.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at SUNY Buffalo
Interview
Pretty laid back interview with most of the questions about soft skills (example would be how I would teach a student) and a few technical questions testing general knowledge and debugging.

Question 1
If a student came in with zero idea of what was going on in lecture, how would you approach teaching them?
The students are supposed to send the job application consisting of a resume, portfolio and a cover letter. There isn't necessarily an interview for the Teaching Assistantship position, just the portfolio, resume and cover letter describing why one is a better candidate to assist the professor compared to other students. The professor upon reviewing the overall profile will get back if they deem the student to be a good fit. However, they may even consider interviewing additionally as part of the process.
