The recruiter reached out after my application online. We had a 30 min call discussing my experience, the role, and the company. The recruiter seemed new to the company because they didn't know how to answer my questions about the company as a whole (e.g. company structure/mapping) and other questions I had.
On the salary, they shared the range for the role, I shared that my salary expectation was higher that the range they had but I was open for a discussion, and they immediately said something along the lines of "we have more qualified candidates than you who would fit our range" which I though was poor taste because... why are you talking to me then?
A few days later I get a call re: the salary and I'm told the range is now tighter (which means the roof was lower) and it was apparent that if didn't suit me I was "out". I was reminded once more that there were other more qualified candidates who were willing to accept this range. I thought it was a pretty cheap strategy,
Never heard back.
