I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Staples (Sandy Springs, GA) in Sept 2010
Interview
About 2 weeks after I applied I got a call from one of the Assistant Managers at the Staples on Roswell Rd. I scheduled an interview for the next day at about 2pm. I showed up at about 1:40pm and interviewed with one of the Assistant Managers ( a male). He only asked me one question, which was to tell him a little bit about myself, and i mentioned that I had a strong knowledge of the merchandise they sold at the store, as well as my awareness on how important Customer Service is. He then explained a little about the company and their values and basic procedures, and asked if I would like to come in the next day at the same time for a second interview, and I agreed. The next day I once again showed up 20 minutes early and this time interviewed with a female. She started off the interview the exact same way as the previous day started off, and I said the same thing to her, she then asked a couple of questions regarding situations with my employment history (i.e. Describe a time when you had a conflict with your boss and how you resolved it). She then left for ten minutes and came back saying they would offer me a job, which I agreed. They then had me fill out the paperwork and I started my training the next day. Although I applied for a cashier position they gave me a position in Office Supplies, even though for the first week or so I was a cashier. Since that time the management situation has changed (they got a permanent General Manager) so the interview process may be a little different.
Twelve rounds with a required dance number and an audience-provided question and answer period. Spelling test provided at the end of the process to final round candidates if successful at interview.
Easy , straightforward , conversational . Didn’t ask any questions out of the ordinary. Asked about cashier process and systems, methodology etc. Met with a few ppl at different levels
