I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at State Farm in Oct 2013
Interview
9/23/13 Completed on-line application, 9/30 Notice "Selected for pre-employment process, 10/1 Took Tests (2) These tests are timed so be very aware on time left on clock. The typing test is almost impossible to complete as they give you two minutes for each typing test. I believe there were 3 or 4. In retrospect I think they know you cant possibly complete the tests so my advice is to do your best, stay focused, calm and continue on to next test. They also give you a series of phone call scenarios from customers placing orders, take a deep breath, pay attention type info (name, address, quantity and type of item and credit card number) the information and move on (I got tripped up on state abbreviations). 10/4 Notice of Competitive Screening Results, 10/8 Request Dates available for phone interview. 10/10 Scheduled phone interview. Behavior Specific situations (Tell me about a time when you were in a situation with multiple solutions, How were you able to decide which solution was best?, How did you handle a demanding customer, what was the situation and the outcome? Tell me about yourself?, Tell me about a time when you had to present a report and the quality of the report was compromised? The HR interviewer was very professional yet had a soothing voice which helped in settling my nerves. I didn't answer with actual experiences because I've been unemployed for six years so she encouraged me to use college scenarios instead. She finished the interview by giving me a list of the positions that I'd applied for and the possible openings that were still available so I assume I did well enough to go on to the next phase because she encouraged me to think of some past experiences that would apply to these types of questions for the next series of "live panel interview". I phone interviewed an hour ago, so I anxiously await an e-mail with a request for the next series. Overall a great experience although (I noticed I was only invited to participate in the process after I put down a current employee as a referral) I'd applied previously with no luck.
