I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Tesco (Norwich, England) in Oct 2018
Interview
One to one interview, three questions asked then discussed flexibility of working patterns. Interviewer was really relatable and down to earth - felt more like a chat. Had to fill out an availability planner to say what shifts I could do over and above the shifts I applied for. I only applied for a 7.5 hour role but said I could do more but later found out I was rejected as my availability wasn’t great (over and above the 7.5 hours) - my suggestion to Tesco would be to be more upfront that it’s essential to do more than the base hours they advertise
Completed a fairly short interview with two existing staff members (including manager) and then headed downstairs to do a trial shift to check how you performed on the checkouts and interacted with customers.

Question 1
Describe a time you have helped a customer or client.
It was simple, basically why do you want to join Tesco and some soft skill questions. Tell me about a time you worked in a group, try to answer in STAR format.
It was done by a manager in a back room. It was formal and it was about 20 minutes asking about experience, peoples skills etc. this might have changed as this was like 6 years ago now
