The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Toys "R" Us in May 2011
Interview
You are initially contacted by the Store Manager or ASM by phone and are asked very basic questions regarding the position (work weekends, hours you will work per week, drug test, work environment) If you sound like a halfway decent candidate, they will bring you in for the group interview.
The group interview consists of several icebreakers, team building activities, a mock selling activity, and a couple of speeches about company expectations. If you perform well at the group interview, you are invited to stay for a 1 on 1 interview with the store manager and one of his/her assistants.
The one on one interview consists of roughly 10 questions regarding business decisions, change management, and supervising others. If you are selected as the top candidate, you can then advance to the final level of interviewing with the Regional Human Resources Manager. He or she will have the final say so.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Toys "R" Us (Laredo, TX)
Interview
The interview was basically a competency based interview with the supervisor and managers trying to get an understanding of my background, my ability to take on the tasks at hand and my ability to fit into Toys R Us
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
-Tell me about yourself?
-Explain how you have led a team, what challenges did you face leading a team and how did you resolve it?
It was a group interview with about 5 of us. We sat down and learned a lot about the company as well as participated in some ice-breaker activities. Then we were pulled for individual interviews. Overall, it took maybe 2-4 hours. For the ice-breakers we built with Legos and then tried to sell our creation and then we picked an item from the store and tried to sell it (figuratively) to the interviewer.
