I had a very weird experience; had a great interview with the person that I was going to work for, and I thought we really "clicked." Had a second interview with the person that I was going to work for, as well as with a person who would have been my coworker, and that went really well, too. Went through the pre-employment testing wth no problem. Then I had an interview with "the boss's boss" and the HR rep, and it was horrible! He was some huge sports fan with football posters all over his office, and I could tell immediately that I wasn't what he was looking for. I suspect I was too old and too female... He had been with the company for 20 years; he commented about my "job hopping." (I've been with the same company now for almost 7 years, the company before that, 11 years!). Needless to say, I didn't get the job. But the weird thing was, I got a call from the home office HR department about interviewing for another position in a different division. Had that interview, and it went really well... and after a few weeks was told they'd filled the position from within.
It was very disappointing, because I would love to work at Travelers, and I have a great deal of experience, and based on what I saw with both situations, I feel like I'd be a really good fit there. I think they should exhaust their options internally before seeking outside people, too.
