I interviewed for a role at trü frü in January 2026. During the interview, the interviewer repeatedly emphasized the Utah / Salt Lake City location and asked multiple times whether I would “fit the culture.”
As a person of color, the way these comments were framed made me feel uncomfortable and othered, and left me questioning whether candidates from diverse backgrounds are genuinely welcomed.
After the interview, there was a nearly three-week delay before receiving a brief rejection email.
While I appreciate eventually hearing back, the overall experience raised concerns for me about inclusivity and belonging. Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds may want to ask direct questions about culture and support early in the process before investing significant time.
