      Account Executive Interview

      12 Sept 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at USA TODAY Co. in Jun 2018

      Interview

One of their HR reps reached out to me via LinkedIn and asked if I would be interested in working as an account executive with Gannett. They ended up hiring someone else for the position that they had originally recruited me for, so they asked if I would be interested in relocating for a similar position, which I was fine with, although I did have to go through nearly the whole interview process again. The interviews themselves, while in-depth, were quite pleasant. There was plenty of deep diving into my work history, which gave me the opportunity to demonstrate the breadth of my skillset, which is something that I've had to go out of my way to bring up in interviews with other companies. They were also extremely prompt in giving me feedback, and the HR contact that I was working with was a phenomenal guide through the whole process. The only negative thing I can say about the process is that every time I would advance to the next stage of interviews, the person I needed to talk to would inevitably be on vacation that week, causing at least 5-7 days delay in the scheduling each time. While a bit frustrating initially, it eventually got to the point of sheer hilarity after it happened several times in a row. That said, I believe this was a fluke, and I don't suspect that it's a common trend with new hires. They also handled it professionally and communicated quickly and clearly about everything, which is the more important part. At the end of the day, I really enjoyed interviewing with Gannett. After several months of job searching, their process was a breath of fresh air, and I really appreciated the professionalism they displayed, while still being down to earth in the interviews themselves. Two thumbs up!

      Interview

It was a typical job interview with typical questions. The interview was professionally run by HR, who was above board, kind, seemed interested, and answered all of my questions. Overall, an ok experience.

      Interview

The job interview process serves a twofold purpose of helping an employer determine whether you're qualified for the job you're interviewing for and helping you to decide whether your values and goals align with those of the employer. This process can vary depending on the company and role, with some companies requiring several face-to-face interviews while others can make a decision after one meeting. In this article, we explain the steps of the interview process and tips for doing well in an interview.

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn. She first scheduled a 15 minute call to give me more information about the position. Then we scheduled a 30 minute phone interview. The next step was to take an online assessment and have a video interview with the VP. I received a call from the recruiter with an offer for the position about 2 hours after my interview with the VP.
