I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group.

    Interview

Initially made contact with a recruiter. She was awesome. From that point, I went on to have 5 interviews. Yep, five. The fourth interview was face to face. Afterwards, I was contacted by the hiring manager's supervisor to interview me again. Apparently, the hiring manager was having some difficulty making a decision. Unfortunately, I was notified by email (from someone in HR that I'd no previous contact with) that I did not get the job. Totally rude. After wasting someone's time on 5 different occasions, I definitely believe a telephone call was warranted.

    Interview Questions

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (Phoenix, AZ (US)) in May 2015.

    Interview

Slow and unpleasant interview experience. It was a slow process requiring much interaction with the recruiter. Finally the interview was scheduled but it was just scenario questions and not really trying to find out if I was really suitable for the job at all. I walked out of there feeling deflated like I wasted my time. For a professional job I felt it was very impersonal and ineffective. Not everyone is able to come up with a scenario type interview. Seems like they take a cookie cutter approach to hiring.

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (Chicago, IL (US)) in April 2015.

    Interview

Pretty easy process, actually a little too easy if you ask me. They seemed a bit too eager to move the process along. Took 3 phone calls and got quick responses and follow up emails. Overall a good experience and and effective interview process.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took a week. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (Portland, OR (US)) in May 2013.

    Interview

Phone interview. Very straightforward, asked about experiences providing in-home care. I spoke with 3 interviewers, including the UnitedHealth group recruiter who contacted me through my LinkedIn profile. Since I was already working in this area of health care, the interview was very smooth. I think that because they contacted me they were fairly certain that they would offer me a position, so that made the process very easy for me.

    Interview Questions

    • Did I enjoy visiting people's home, and was it a comfortable experience for me. Asked about different experiences I had encountered as a nurse practitioner in the home and how I dealt with them.   3 Answers

    Negotiation

Very straightforward. I was not in a position where I had to leave my former position, so I asked for the hourly salary I wanted, and got it.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group in May 2012.

    Interview

Interviewed with several recruiters and other people in HR. I was promised raises and bonuses by them that never happened. I was also promised that all of my travel time would be included in the 40 hour work week but the company reneged on this later. I was promised that I would have all holidays off but found out later that this only means 8 hours (and I was scheduling my availability as 10 hour days) so I had to take PTO or schedule availability on a day that I wouldn't normally work to meet my 40 hour availability requirement. Never interviewed with anyone in the healthcare field. Onboarding process was fairly straightforward with needing license, etc. Do not go through an actual credentialing process like other places I've worked.

    Interview Questions

    • None of the people that interviewed me were in the medical field so they went by a "script" and then recorded my answers. Therefore, they couldn't answer my questions regarding the position and focused on making sure that the all the questions on their questionnaire were answered (more like a check list than an interview).   Answer Question

    Negotiation

Straight forward. They offered; I countered. They met me half way and promised bonuses and raises so I accepted. I found out later that all of us were making the same salary regardless of experience.

    Interview

replied to ad on internet, weeks later spoke to UHG staff, offered position with training arranged 4-6 weeks after interview, then actual job began about 6 weeks after training. Stipend allowed for training, long interval from application to first paycheck.

    Interview Questions

    • Do you know how to do monofilament exams? was told I was not exactly what they were looking for but still willing to hire me.   2 Answers

    Negotiation

ask for more than offered, they are desparate to hire and the work is difficult to finish without bringing it home.
