I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors in Nov 2014
Interview
all i remember is that i had an interview on skype with a helpful and friendly woman. first i was asked some general questions about myself, my expectations, qualifications.
thereafter i was asked some very specific questions about the material i had applied to become a tutor in. as it was calculus and statistics i was asked some very specific questions about calculus and statistic which i all could answer correctly and effortlessly since i have a phd in the subject.
i was was looking forward to a job offer. to my surprise i received an e-mail stating that the could not offer me a job and that my file had been forwarded to another company more appropriate to my qualifications.
i was quite puzzled and still don't know what happened or what went wrong and why. it was my first interview for this type of employment after retirement and i apparently i gave some wrong answers
they didn't like. maybe i should have been less forthcoming on tastes, opinions or have referred to my homepage?
i don't particularly like to think back about the whole episode.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
like computing derivatives, integrals, correlation coefficients. salary expectations, personal tastes, hobbies.
I applied online and then they set up an interview with me. The interviewer's questions were straightforward and I also got to ask questions about the job. There was clear follow up on the next steps in the interview process.
There was no interview process. We just got offer letters and I think its because they are still starting and up and all. But I think its a great opportunity to learn and teach.
