This is age discriminating as well - many older applicants who have worked in customer service backgrounds would have gone to university, especially if they were from working class families. Sure, they want experience, but not too much! Asking for a degree is the laziest and most insidious way to cut the number of applicants, and reduce the number of applicants over the age of 40/45.
