      Software Engineer MTS2 Interview

      18 Jan 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Toronto, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at eBay (Toronto, ON) in Sept 2021

      Interview

I had hundreds of interviews, this one is by far the worst one I experienced in my life (interview process wise) My interview has started mid-September 2020 where I have been contacted by Ebay HR for an MTS2 position here in Toronto. First interview with a technical hiring manager set up on Sept 13 around 10am on Zoom, I took a day off to be more comfortable for the interview but the person never showed up, tried to contact HR but she never replied. In the afternoon, the Manager called me without apologizing asking me if I can take the interview the next day Sept 14, I accepted and took another day off ... The interview was simple (2 hours), but the person was extremely arrogant, distracted and seemed like he wasn't interested by the interview at all which was frustrating (and again, never apologized for the previous day). 1st interview Questions : Simple Leetcode problems + Tree traversal Few days later, I hear from the HR that I'm advancing to the next step of the interview and ask me to pick up 3 or 4 days where I will be scheduled for 5 other technical interviews (3 coding and 2 architecture) I gave her my dates but she didn't reply at all (even me following up with her several times). 2 weeks later she sent me an email telling me Ebay is on hiring freeze but they decided to make an exception for my case and asked me to pick up yet another 3 or 4 days for the next rounds (as the first days I provided have passed) I did and the next round started mid-October The interviews were medium to hard leetcode questions, tree, search and recursivity. One of the interview was with the same hiring manager I had in my first round, and again he didn't show up !!!, he sent me an email later asking me to wait 1 more hour so that he finishes with his important meeting, not caring about my schedule ... I finished this final round confident enough and was hoping for an offer after all the roller coaster I went through and the time and energy spent with their process. 2 weeks later, I receive an email from the HR telling me that I passed the interview but unfortunately Ebay is on hiring freeze and I will be contacted on a later time (I tried to ask her for more details about this later time, but she never replied to me, she just decided to ghost me, even the hiring manager which I had his email ghosted me). I'm writing this today because 3 months have passed and I know that even if I receive an offer today, I will not take it because of the disrespect I've been through. Treating people like meat is not the way to go Ebay, you need to give more respect for interviewees, positive or negative interview, respect and consideration should be mutual, we (interviewees) put so much time and effort (for my case even money as I took in total, almost a week off work for their process)... I really hope this interview description will be seen by some Ebay high executives and start giving some guidelines to their interviewers and HR. This process should be improved asap if they still want people to look up for them.
