I handle that type of environment well. I can focus on the task at hand, and if pulled to another task, can quickly resume the original task when the other is completed. Less

What made you apply/why do you want to work here?

1 Answers

Because I am seeking a career with a well-established company; the company itself is older than me and since the company was founded it has continued to show growth year after year and I love the way the it engages the community and it’s members. Less

The Cigna Group

They asked questions like: "Tell me about a time when you had to deliver some bad news or negative news to an employee." and "Describe a situation in which you were called on to present information to a group and you were not prepared.".

I described a situation where I had to terminate an employee I had known for a long time. This person was the sole provider for his family but had been having a problem with work attendance. I had counselled him on several occasions but he had not adhered to the plan we agreed upon. When I called him into my office, he immediately began begging me not to fire him and that he would promise to do better. I showed him the previous documentation where he had agreed to improve 3 months earlier and a month before that. We talked about it and the reasons he was not either coming to work on time or was leaving early without notification. He offered no explanation other than "I had to." I explained that he left me little choice and that he would be immediately terminated. He became hostile and threatened me, yelling at me and overturning the chairs in my office. I eventually had to have him removed by security. He later sent me an email and apologized for his behavior. He explained that he was under a great deal of stress in his personal life but that losing his job was a wake up call. He also explained that he had been using drugs and alcohol and had not realized that it was affecting his performance. I responded to the email briefly and thanked him for the apology. Less

Paychex

It was clear to me that the managers had less skill than I, and I didn't know what to say. I kinda offended them with strategies they didn't know. Their mind set is sell, sell, sell. Mine is sell smart. The difficulty was the friction. I actually just gave them a hint of a strategy, but I regret it now. There are easier examples for discussing such complex topics and I wish I had taken the easy approach. I just thought it would be wise to discuss the root of why such knowledge is important.

I shared how we invested a lot of money at improving, and I wanted to leverage my skills where they would be best utilized. Paychex is the best company for benefits because of the ability to service the small business sector. Less
