What type of preventative dentistry do you believe in? How many chairs have you managed during a day? How many staff members have you managed during the day. do you still use amalgam? Why do you do hospital dentistry? Do you ever use a papoose board?

1 Answers

I discussed the use of sealants and sodium diamine fluoride, which is a newer procedure. I have managed 6 chairs at a time during the course of a day. I normally have one hygienist, 4 assistants and one EFDA during a work day. During a complete hygiene day, I have 2 hygienists and 4 assistants, plus I perform hygiene duties as needed besides the exams. Hospital dentistry is offered for children with complicated and extensive treatment plans. In addition, it is also utilized for the special needs patient that is unable to cooperate for routine dentistry. A papoose board is usually only for restorative procedures on extremely uncooperative children who are having their work done in office instead of going under general anesthesia. This is for safety reasons for the child. This is fully explained and demonstrated to the parents so they can choose the best course of treatment. A permission slip for the use of the papoose board is always signed prior to utilization. Parents are allowed to be present during the course of treatment. Less

Communicate with the staff what our goals are, how we are expected to reach them, and provide some sort of incentive for the hard work, if not monetary, then some sort of recognition hospital wide. Offer a nice gift for the employee with the highest performance evaluation. Less
