Leadership (VP and above) - these leaders are dedicated and knowledgeable. The company as a whole practices an open door policy, and all levels are happy to help.
Opportunity - so much opportunity, Lateral and vertical. A great place to learn and grow.
Equality and Diversity - the company has great diversity programs to make everyone feel welcome. People are given opportunities from all backgrounds and walks of life.
Pay. Plain and simple. The pay is much much lower than similar companies with comparable jobs. I can drive 30 minutes easy for the same job and make 50k more.
Advice to Management
Be more transparent, the direction of the company is bright and everyone deserves to know about it. So much information seems kept to leaders only.
Pay for the talent. People are using FD as a stepping stone instead of a long term career simply because of the pay. I’ve personally grew from the call center and I’m making much less than others at my level. Internal/promotional raises are minimal.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at First Data (Hagerstown, MD (US)) in February 2014.
Met with three of four managers for first interview. The interview was the typical interview questions, tell me about a time when.... Second interview with direct manager and director was more of what to be expected within the performance and expectations of the staff accountant role. More relaxed and personal interview than first meeting.
