I worked at General Mills full-time (More than 10 years)
Great relationship-based company with exceptional people and great brands. Flexible schedule, summer hours and onsite health services, fitness center, credit union, Caribou, D'Amico and company store. Invested in volunteerism and giving back to the community.
Heavily weighted toward recruiting from ivy league colleges, which makes it difficult to get promoted if you're not in the "in" crowd.
Advice to Management
There's a lot of great talent you're not tapping into by overlooking hidden gems in the lower ranks. If you truly value innovation, look beyond the MBAs who are trained in the same old way of doing things. Also, your new tagline is long and difficult to remember. Get back to your marketing roots and get back to doing it right.
