I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at General Mills (Chanhassen, MN (US)) in July 2014.
Phone interview then face to face. They want you to answer any questions with safety first. So if they ask you what would you do if half the lines baked good were going into the freezer uncooked, you would say, "stop the line and call maintenance/management." Saying something like I would keep the line running and try to fix it on the fly would be a red flag. Answering a question with a production first mentality instead of safety first mentality is a red flag. They might sit you down with multiple people or in a room with multiple applicants. They will give you a plant tour and talk about the company.
There isn't any negotiation in pay or shift if first shift isn't available then it's off the table.
