    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Google (New York, NY (US)) in September 2021.

    Interview

There was 1 phone screen (quick 15 mins discussion) followed by 1 HM interview (45 mins) and post that there was the ‘virtual onsite’ consisting of 3 interviews, 1 hour each.
All interviews were focussed on hypothetical scenarios regarding controls and processes-what risks would you observe in a particular scenario, how would you tackle it, what considerations would you make and so on. There were also code reading exercises focused exclusively on Python code. The last interviewer asked to write a small Python code based on string manipulation. No behavioral questions or googleyness or estimation questions. Also, prepare good questions to ask the interviewer but you’ll not be scored based on that since the interviewer only makes notes of the questions they asked.
After the onsite, the recruiter reached out within a week to call and say that the team decided to go forward with other candidates. Based on the interview experience the feedback was they expected the potential employee to be experienced and hence were looking for more specific answers.

    Interview Questions

    • Based on the sample scenario given - talk about the risks and controls you would expect to see. (Make it as detailed as possible and emphasize how you would implement it and what results you expect to see).
Role based scenario where the interviewer acts as a stakeholder and asks you questions about not accepting your ‘audit findings’ and determining how you handle the situation.
Coding questions - python code logic presented and asked to explain what it does and how you can make it better. Also asked to code a small string manipulation kind of code in python.   Answer Question
