I have been working at Smart AdServer full-time (More than a year)
- Fast-paced environment skewed towards innovation and excellence
- Really bright people, putting intellectual horse-power at work
- Good work-life balance, very decent working hours, with amazing flexibility esp. useful given current sanitary context
- Hands-on culture, maximizing time for getting cool stuff done (very few meetings overall, even fewer non-productive ones)
Overall, really happy to work there!!
It's a fast-paced environment, so it's challlenging. Some people who are looking for stable routines aren't probably the best fit.
Advice to Management
Keep up the good work!
I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Smart AdServer (Paris (France)) in September 2019.
I applied on linkedin, and I spoke with HR on the phone, and then had an in-person interview with the hiring manager. The experience with HR was great.
The meeting with the hiring manager was a complete waste of my time. They were clearly not interested in my skill set, so I don't know why they asked me to come in, as they told me that the other candidates had more experience in this industry. It felt like a "tech boy's club" that was not very open to diverse profiles outside of their direct industry. I was casually insulted when the hiring manager alluded to the fact that maybe I wouldn't be smart enough to be able to speak and understand their developers "who went to the best engineering schools in France" . I was convinced that the interview was going nowhere after about 10 minutes, but at the end of the interview an hour later, the hiring manager said I could review their current solution and give feedback about their tutorials the following week. I felt a little uncomfortable that he gave me his personal and not professional email address. I politely followed up a few days later to say I was not interested in pursuing the process.
It was however interesting to learn about this industry.
