    Engineering Manager Interview

    Anonymous Interview Candidate in Chennai
    No Offer
    Negative Experience

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Advisory Board (Chennai) in August 2017.

    Interview

This is how the process went:
    1. HR sends a message in linkedin and then calls you.
    2. Telephonic interview is scheduled
    3. On the day of the interview, HR calls up and says the panel isn't available, and then re-schedules the interview
    4. On the day of interview, someone else (not the panel member who was actually scheduled) calls you.
    5. He says he doesn't have your resume, didn't get a chance to see your profile also.... nice, isn't it!
    6. He asks you to tell about yourself and even before you finish answering, he gives you two problems and asks you to solve any one (and that is in the form of a google doc, shared from his PERSONAL email id).. What a professional way to handle interview for an Engineer Manager role! Awesome.
    7. And one more thing... when you answer his question or solve the problem, he is minding his own work in the background and never bothers to listen to anything you tell... Very productive employee I guess.
    8. If you couldn't solve the problem within the given time, it means that you don't get through the process, no matter whatever you have in your resume / skillset. If you do not know what he knows, then you aren't upto the mark.
    9. And yeah, they save a lot of time, by not giving you a proper feedback. Efficient time management.. kudos!
