BT – Why Work For Us?

We’ve been in India since 1987 and we set up our first customer relationship management office in New Delhi in 1995. Since then we’ve been taking big steps to grow our business.

Today, we serve over 200 customers across India.

You’ll be helping our corporate customers to improve their business reliability, become more globally competitive, and focus on their core customer business. We do this by providing virtual private network-based (VPN) services using technologies such as IP-based multi-protocol label switching (MPLS).

Our customer base cuts across a wide range of industries, including IT, IT enabled services (ITeS), banking and financial services, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. Our customers in India include Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Star TV, NDTV and Standard Chartered Bank.

In addition, we’re part of a virtual joint research initiative into next generation networks systems and services: the IU-ATC (India-UK Advanced Technology Centre). The aim is to support collaborative PhD, Post Doctorate projects, joint research programs, and the technology transfer between the UK and India.

It makes complete sense that our people reflect our customers. It helps us understand their individuality and give them the best possible products and service, so we’re always working to make sure we have a diverse team here who feel included and listened too. Plus, having people from all walks of life means hundreds of ideas coming together, helping us become even more creative and innovative. Just look at what our teams achieved with BT Sport! That’s just the tip of the iceberg for us and it’s entirely down to our people.

Our employee networks cover everything from gender equality and ethnicity through to LGBT+ and disability and they’re supported by our dedicated Diversity and Inclusivity team. They’re listened to by our Senior Leaders and are the ones who drive change both inside and outside of the business, with initiatives like the Working Forward campaign.

What’s more, we support them by partnering with the likes of the Business Disability Forum – where we hold a Silver award - and Employers for Carers, making the most of their expertise and holding ourselves up to high standards of working life for everyone here at BT.

But it’s our people who make the real difference. Two of our leaders appear in the Green Park Top 100 Influential BAME (Black, Asian and minority ethnicities) Business Leaders 2016 list. And women at all levels who have received Women of the Future, Everywoman in Technology and Rising Stars in Technology awards. We give all of our people the support they need to be able to shine and we are incredibly proud of the amazing things they achieve day in, day out.

A more flexible approach

If you work for BT, we believe you should be able to enjoy the physical and mental benefits of a healthy work-life balance. Which is why we actively encourage flexible working.

By working in partnership with each other, thousands of our people have already established alternative working arrangements that are making our business more productive, cost effective and energised.

We fully understand that many people have talents and interests outside work. In achieving their desired work-life balance, most people discover not only renewed energy, but new enthusiasm and reward in their work and their other commitments.

A more rewarding place to be

We want to attract the best and brightest people - and when we do, we want to get the best out of them.

We believe that if you’re worth employing, you’re worth looking after. That’s why we go out of our way to offer all our employees a range of benefits that reflect the full value of their skills, experience and qualifications.

As you grow and develop, your benefits and bonuses will grow with you. What shape they take all depends on what direction your career takes. (More detail about benefits applicable to you will be shared during the recruitment process). But from the outset, everyone who builds a career with us can expect to enjoy the following:

  • Membership of The BT Retirement Plan - a defined contribution scheme providing pension and life benefits

  • Flexible working hours and the option to work remotely, where appropriate

  • Share-related benefits, including sharesave and profit-sharing schemes (available periodically)

  • Discounts on some BT products and specially-negotiated prices on other items such as computer equipment, car products, healthcare and dental work, life assurance, holidays, hotel accommodation and financial planning

  • Interest-free annual season ticket loans

We’re part of the fabric of society. We bring people and places together, in extraordinary ways, creating the infrastructure that defines modern life.

We set up the world’s first communication network, broadcast the first television pictures and built the first programmable computer. Today, we’re fusing quantum physics with optical engineering, running ultrafast, ultra-secure systems that are transforming the way we talk, watch and learn. We don’t just make telecommunications. We’re inventors. We make things possible.

Our network underpins the lives of millions of people, in 198 countries. The products we design, build and operate really do have the potential to change the world. Our Tech Plus programme will show you how.

    Interview

It took a whole day. Well, there were mainly 150+ jobs seekers. so for this massive gathering, they conducted written exam (technical) which were pretty easy(you can secretly use your mobile for answers but make sure you don't get caught :D). They took almost 2 hours to check and announced the results after which number came down to 75+. Almost half of them were asked to leave. then after 1-hour long wait, they started with face-to-face interview round which was last one. I think they were biased. Furthermore, they were not spending more than 2 minutes in face to face round. Now you could imagine how rapid fire it was. In almost 2 minutes, the interviewer asked me almost 10 questions. Above all, they were asking same sets of questions to every candidate and only those candidates were making up to it which were extremely good-looking. Not kidding. So would suggest you look good and if formals don't really suit you then go with some simple and casual attire but show yourself best. The interview is pretty easy. Also, carry your phone which has 12 hours internet connection because this helped the most.
