I have been working at Benaroya Research Institute At Virginia Mason full-time

    Pros

Employee benefits and clinical research opportunities. Strong research staff of immunologists.

    Cons

Nothing glaring. A bit small and insulated in some ways, though collaborations possible with many Seattle institutes/universities.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Benaroya Research Institute At Virginia Mason (Seattle, WA (US)) in January 2012.

    Interview

The initial phone screen was basic. I attended a single on-site interview and met with the department manager and several future peers in two group meetings. The process felt organized and smooth, though the first group meeting was with several people and felt a little excessively 'on the spot'. The following group meeting was with 3 people who were all very friendly. Some of the questions were difficult but I think that's a good sign. I felt like the group got to know me and shared important information about their department and the research program overall.
