    Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Ford Foundation (New York, NY (US)) in January 2020.

    Interview

The first round was a video call screening with HR who advanced me to the second round. The second round was an In-person interview with an associate general counsel who advanced me to the third round. The third round was an In-person interview with the Deputy General Counsel who did not advance me further. Not having an Ivy League education hurts a candidate looking to work with the likes of Yale and UPenn graduates. No amount of preparation or initiative can overcome this bias. Admittedly, I had a slip of the tongue moment that should not have affected my candidacy, but everyone reacts differently. When the Deputy General Counsel was talking about their team of lawyers, talking about each other's similarities, I mentioned, "and you all went to Yale, right?" (the very top law school in the country). Truth is, all of the attorneys did, except for this one person, which was perhaps an inadvertent and unfortunate reminder on my part.
