    Difficult Interview

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at GMR Transcription (United States)

You answer a bunch of questions on their site and receive an email with a style guide and other instructions. You are given a test file of 16 minutes to transcribe. The audio is described as poor, but it's more than that. It was awful. I spent over 3 hours going over it with a fine tooth comb and struggling my way through their incredibly confusing 'style guide' that they tell you to delete, because if they hire you, they'll send you a different one! I did get rejected, no big deal, but the rating they gave me was unfair, as they expect you to make do with horrible instructions and a foolishly set up way of transcribing (REV is a heck of a lot easier). After I sent in the application, I was actually thinking about withdrawing it because of how terrible their site is. It doesn't make sense to have your applicants transcribe some of the worst audio out there that's considered to be 'expert level' when they are a 'beginner friendly' site.
Bottom line: Don't expect applicants to spend hours working on the application. We're looking for jobs because we have bills to pay and honestly, three hours is a waste.
