I have been working at GoCardless full-time (More than 3 years)
Depending on the team you join many leaders promote and enable their teams (this is not the case of many of the Ops focused senior leaders sadly)
Great office space
Events and perks
Still a lot of middle management who have zero experience of managing or empowering people - given senior titles which just aren't relevant to their levels of experience but due to length of tenure. Lots of politics.
Staff in many teams made to feel disposable and fearful to voice their opinions.
Poor work / life balance - staying late is not dispelled and pretty commonplace.
Lack of structure / awareness of specific competencies across a number of the teams.
Advice to Management
Listen and empower those with talent - not just those who've been in the business a long time. You will continue to lose good staff.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GoCardless (Mail) in December 2018.
The initial process was a written-case interview. I was asked to write an essay of 2 pages, which there was no clear mention about the expectations. I believe the written essay should have had - a technical insight about the product, how the product was designed, where it had failed, and insights for improvements in future. My essay was summarized, however still it leads to a email receipt stating "My Application was rejected". I would kindly request the GoCardless team to attach a written feedback, so that candidates can understand the process happened, and it would be a learning curve for further applications, either in the same company or elsewhere.
